hours the following day.
Five day courses will commence at 09.00 hours on the first day until 17.00

The above times are, of course, subject to appropriate weather conditions and
the Instructor’s decisions regarding those conditions and the seaworthiness of
the vessel. If a course is postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather
conditions, every effort to re-schedule the course will be made by the school.

liability.
Any students with special medical problems or needs must consult with their
doctor as to whether he considers them safe to participate in a course. The
school must be notified by either the student or his/her doctor of these
conditions.
DECISIONS
Any decision made by either the Principal, Instructor or Skipper with regard
to any school property, equipment or vessel is final.
All crew or students will accept all decisions and orders given to them by
the Skipper or Instructor while either on board the training vessel, it’s tender
or ashore until such time as the course has been completed and both the
Skipper/Instructor and all students have left the vessel. The
Skipper’s/Instructor’s authority is total whether it is by day or night in
accordance with Marine Law.
If a student does not accept an order or decision from the Skipper or
Instructor, for any reason whatsoever, that student will be in breach of his
Articles of sailing. The Skipper or Instructor shall and will take any action he
considers is in the best interest of both the vessel and the other students. The
offending student may be put ashore and no liability whatsoever shall be
attached to the school, either in redress for additional expenses or for any
refund on course fees. Nor can the offending student have any redress toward
either the school, it’s Principal or the Instructor.
Every attempt to give the students maximum sea time will be made, however, if
the weather conditions, safety or any other circumstances, in the Instructors
opinion, make continuing the course imprudent, his decision is final.
OWN VESSEL INSTRUCTION
If instruction is to be given on a students own vessel, the student must
inform his vessels insurance company that the school’s Instructor will be aboard
that vessel during instruction and that the School, it’s Principal or the
instructor are not liable for any damages whatsoever. The student’s vessel
insurance policy must be fully comprehensive and cover that vessel for the area
in which it will be operating.
If the Instructor has to travel to a student’s vessel, all transportation
costs and any accommodation expenses will be met by the student. These costs and
expenses will be set prior to the course commencement.
The Whitsunday Sailing School is insured for public liability only. Our
policy is available for any student to inspect, on request. However, the school
recommends that any student should consider their own policy for sickness, life,
accident, course fees or any other reason they feel is prudent.
DISCLAIMER
Students participate in courses at their own risk. Every effort will be made
to ensure that the activities are as safe as possible, and the schools safety
policy is available on request. The School accepts no liability for any
student’s property whether it is on the School’s vessel, in student’s vehicles
or at any other location for the duration of the course.
If any of the School’s equipment or materials are broken or damaged the
Instructor or the School’s principal must be notified immediately for reasons of
safety. Students shall be liable for any loss or damage to the School’s
equipment or materials, up to and including the first $500 per item.
All students are expected to participate in the normal duties associated with
the running of a vessel at sea. These include cleaning, cooking and the routine
maintenance of the vessel as instructed by the Skipper. At the completion of the
course the vessel shall be cleaned by the students from bow to stern.
CERTIFICATES
The Whitsunday Sailing School maintains very high standards with regard to
its instruction and the issue of Certificates. A Certificate will only be
